A complete guide to corporate long-stay accommodation policy, covering hotels, serviced apartments, and how to plan employee housing across global markets.
Corporate travel is changing. Employees are no longer travelling only for one or two nights. Businesses increasingly move employees for projects, assignments, relocations, training programmes and expansion activities.
As a result, companies need reliable corporate long-stay accommodation.
Corporate long-stay accommodation refers to accommodation arranged for employees or business travellers staying for an extended period. Typical durations include 30 nights, 60 nights, 90 nights, 6 months, and 12 months. Accommodation may include hotels, serviced apartments, aparthotels and other professionally managed properties.
Long-stay accommodation can provide better cost management, consistent employee housing, centralised booking, easier administration, flexible extensions, professional services, and furnished accommodation.
Traditional residential rentals may require security deposits, annual contracts, utility setup, furniture, maintenance arrangements, and long commitments. For employees staying temporarily, a serviced apartment or long-stay hotel can provide greater flexibility.
Dubai is one of the world's major business centres. Companies frequently need corporate accommodation for employees working in DIFC, Business Bay, Downtown, Barsha Heights, JLT, Dubai Marina, Jebel Ali, Dubai Internet City, and Dubai Media City. The ideal location depends on the employee's workplace and transportation requirements.
Major Indian business centres also have strong demand for long-stay accommodation, including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune. Companies can use serviced apartments and long-stay hotels for employees working on temporary assignments.
China's major commercial hubs — Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Hong Kong — have fast-growing demand for long-stay corporate accommodation as multinational companies expand teams, relocate staff, and run extended projects across the region.
Companies sourcing accommodation in China should compare monthly serviced-apartment rates, proximity to business districts (e.g. Shanghai's Lujiazui and Jing'an, Shenzhen's Futian and Nanshan, Beijing's Chaoyang and Haidian), and whether bulk or group rates are available for teams of 10, 50, or 100+ employees.
Companies should establish: approved locations, maximum accommodation budget, preferred property types, maximum stay duration, booking approval process, employee eligibility, invoice requirements, and extension procedures. A clear policy helps control accommodation costs across every market a company operates in — from Dubai and Mumbai to Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Corporate long-stay accommodation is an important part of modern business travel and workforce mobility. Companies should evaluate accommodation based on total value, location, services, flexibility and duration — not simply the nightly price.
