Project Accommodation in Dubai: Housing Workforce Teams for Construction and Engineering

Project accommodation is a distinct category from general corporate housing. Construction, engineering and infrastructure projects often need to house dozens or hundreds of workers near a specific site for a defined project duration — with different priorities from a typical corporate relocation.

What Makes Project Accommodation Different

Unlike a single relocating executive, a project workforce usually needs accommodation clustered near the project site, standardised room types across the group, predictable monthly costs for budgeting purposes, and flexibility to scale the number of units up or down as the project's workforce changes phase.

Proximity to the Site Matters More Than Anything Else

For project accommodation, minimising commute time is usually the single biggest factor — it directly affects productivity, transport costs, and worker wellbeing. Areas like Dubai Investment Park, Jebel Ali, and Dubai South are commonly used for project accommodation because of their proximity to major industrial and construction zones.

Structuring the Request

A project accommodation brief should specify: total workforce size, phased ramp-up or ramp-down if known, room type and occupancy rules (single vs shared), proximity requirement to the site, transport arrangements if the property isn't within walking distance, and the total project duration.

Managing Scale Changes

Projects rarely have a fixed headcount for the full duration. Ask suppliers directly about their flexibility to add or release units as the workforce scales, and whether that flexibility comes at a pricing cost.

Conclusion

Project accommodation should be planned around the site location and workforce scaling pattern first, with property type and amenities as secondary considerations — the opposite priority order from a typical individual corporate stay.
